A RECORD OF

Responsible Leadership

My wife and I moved to the New Albany school district more than 20 years ago with the same goal shared by so many in our community: to give our kids access to a quality education. We wanted them to learn and thrive in an environment that emphasizes the arts, culture, athletic achievement, and academic excellence. Our schools have delivered on all those hopes - and so many more.

I first got involved in our schools when we sent our oldest to kindergarten. I joined the New Albany Strategic Planning Committee, where we helped the district map out a long-term growth plan, and I later managed the successful campaign to construct the building that’s now the Intermediate School. I’ve also worked over the years with several external organizations that have an interest in the quality of our schools, including our homeowners associations, the Ohio Broadcast Educational Media Commission, the New Albany Community Foundation, and the New Albany Chamber of Commerce.

In 2013, our friends and neighbors elected me to the district's board of education and I've been honored to serve in a leadership position on the board for eight of those years, including my current role as Vice-President of the Board. What we've been able to accomplish together as a learning community - thanks to the finest staff and students in the world - is nothing short of amazing. Check out a few of them here:

I believe all of this is made possible by an unyielding commitment to academic success, responsible management, and steady leadership.

Professionally, I’m a small business owner and I provide consulting support on strategic communications and government advocacy. I’ve worked as a senior advisor in both the state and federal governments, where I developed a passion for public education and improving Ohio’s school funding formula. I've learned that public service requires a careful balance of listening, building consensus, and leading. That’s been our guiding focus on the board, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together as a district.

As a parent, I’m also committed to supporting the social and emotional well-being of our students, as well as improving our campus culture to ensure that all are welcomed, respected, and valued.

On Tuesday, November 4th, you will once again have a choice in the leadership of our school district. I'm more committed than ever to keep working toward our goals - not just for your kids but also for the future of our community.

I hope you'll join me, and I humbly ask for your vote for the New Albany-Plain Local Board of Education.
